1 1/2 C. Cornmeal
1/2 C. Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 Tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 C. Shortening
2 Eggs
1-1/2 C. Buttermilk (You can substitute with 1-1/2 C. milk and 1-1/2 Tbsp, Lemon Juice or White Vinegar. Combine and let sit for 15 minutes before using).

Preheat oven to 450º.
Combine all ingredients together; beat vigorously for 30 seconds. Pour into a greased square baking pan (8"x8"x2"). Bake until golden brown for 25-30 minutes. Serve warm with Honey Butter.
