1 cup butter
3 cups brown sugar
4 large eggs
5 cups flour (more for rolling and cutting out shapes)

Cream softened butter with sugar. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Add flour a cup at a time and mix well to incorporate after each addition.

Separate dough into 2 halves and wrap airtight to chill in refrigerator, till ready for use... min 2 hours.

Roll thin, use plenty of flour, brush cookies lightly with egg wash, decorate with sugar sprinkles or cinnamon and a pecan half. BE Patient!!! Sometimes the second rolling of a section comes out better than the first time. Bake 375 for 6 to 7 min

These cookies are a very old recipe, that I have only seen from my family. I have not found the same recipe anywhere, even though I have found the same name.... Grandpa's favorite cookie EVER! Can you see him laying on the couch with handfuls? Making these cookies each year is when I know Christmas is here!
