"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Personal Notes:
My Aunt Angie said this was my Grandmother's favorite cake. Her recipe had shortening (lard) and butter in it. It was only made in the Winter when apples came in and if they got oranges at Christmas.
The variance in cooking time depends on the type of pan you use. Generally done in about 70-75 minutes or less.
