1 qt sour cherries
2 quarts water
2/3 c sugar
5 T flour
1 c whipping cream

Directions:
Directions:
Add water to cherries and cook until soft. Add half of sugar to cherries. Combine remaining sugar with flour and add cream to make a smooth paste. Add paste to cherries and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

Serve warm or cold as desired. Makes 5-6 servings.

This recipe is from Off the Mountain Lake Range. You can use other fruit. I prefer gooseberry moos. Cherry moos is essentially the same thing as cherry prei. I only learned that when I saw Marcia's recipe. I've posted the moos recipe on the theory that some of the rest of us who had plaut dietch mothers were in the same boat. I've never had much luck making good cherry moos. A friend recently told me she makes it by adding cream to a can of cherry pie filling. I haven't tried it, but thought I'd pass the word.
