2 c. packed light brown sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, flour, and butter, cutting in with a pastry blender or fingers, until the mixture is crumbly. Remove one cup to reserve for the topping. Beat the egg lightly and add to the crumb mixture. Dissolve the soda in the milk, then add along with the salt and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour into a greased and floured 9" square cake pan. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs over the top, along with the cinnamon. Bake at 350º for 40 - 45 minutes.
