1 Beef Round or Rump Roast, app. 5 1/2 lbs.
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1/2 tsp/ Garlic Powder
4 T. Oil
2 lbs. Onions, Peeled and Thinly Sliced
1 c. Water
3 Beef Bouillon Cubes

Pat meat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in heavy pot over medium heat. Add meat and brown well on all sides. Remove meat and add remaining tablespoon of oil to drippings. Stir in onions and cook until lightly browned and beginning to soften. Return meat to pot and spoon some of the onions over the top of meat. Add water and bouillon cubes. Cover and bring to a boil.. Place in preheated 300° oven and cook 3 1/2 hours or until meat is tender and well done. Cut meat in thin slices and serve topped with onions. Thicken juices for gravy. Notes: This is also good when cooked in a slow cooker.
