Ingredients:
1 pound butter, lightly salted
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 ½ cups pecans, chopped (or other nuts)
7 Hershey bars
Heavy saucepan
Wooden spoon
Candy thermometer

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter; pour in ½ cup pecans, 2 cups sugar and 1 tablespoon vinegar (very important). Cook on medium-medium high heat to 300 degrees on thermometer (hard crack stage). Pour into 2 cookie pans that have been well buttered. Spread toffee thin and as quickly as you can without leaving holes in candy. Keep handy some butter to rub on the wooden spoon to keep the candy from sticking to it. Set aside to cool. Melt 7 Hershey bars on double boiler or microwave and spread on top of candy. Make sure the candy is not hot when you do this. Sprinkle pecans on chocolate to desired thickness and let set and cool. Break toffee into small pieces.
