2 C flour
1 tsp.salt
2/3 C shortening
1 egg yolk
1/2 C milk

5 C peeled, cored, and sliced apples.

1 1/2 C sugar
2T flour
dash of cinnamon.
1 T (or more) butter.

Powdered sugar frosting: powdered sugar, melted butter, milk.

Crust:
2 C flour
1 tsp.salt
Cut in 2/3 C shortening and mix until mixture is crumbly. Mix 1 slightly beaten egg yolk with 1/2 C milk & stir into flour mixture. Dough will be soft.

Roll 1/2 dough on floured surface to fit into 9" x 13" pan (If I am putting them in the freezer 1 use 9x13 deep dish foil pans).

Cover with 5 C peeled, cored, and sliced apples.

Mix: 1 1/2 C sugar with 2T flour & a dash of cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples and "dot" with 1 T (or more) butter.

Roll out remaining pie crust on floured surface to fit pan and top over apples.

Lightly beat the egg white and brush over crust.

Bake: 350* for 1 hour (crust will be golden brown)

Frost with powdered sugar frosting while warm to glaze and serve w/a scoop of ice cream!
