2 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar (I think I use more like 3-4 Tbsp)
4 Tbsp. butter
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix like biscuit dough. Bake 450ºF for 12 minutes. Use lots of strawberries that have been cleaned, washed, crushed and sugared and put them on the cake. Add cream or milk and enjoy.

When we had shortcake, that's all we'd have for supper. It took quite a large bowl full of crushed, sweetened strawberries. We poured milk and cream on the shortcake after we covered it with strawberries. —Marjorie
