1/2 cup brown sugar

1 envelope (dry) Lipton onion soup mix (or use a generic brand)
Water as needed
Other as per suggestions below

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil...but don't leave boiling.
Remove from heat and allow to sit until the onion soup mix has softened in the mixture.
Add water to make it the thickness you desire.
Then add ingredients as per your particular taste & the meal you are serving.
If you like a kick, add some hot sauce. If you prefer sweeter, add a little more brown sugar. Tarter? A little more vinegar should do the trick.
Other things to try: garlic, sweet bell pepper (very finely minced), Cajun or Creole seasoning, hot peppers.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
You really can't mess this sauce up. It freezes well and will also keep a long time in the fridge. Chicken is best if it sits in the sauce for 24 hours before cooking. Try it on pork, brisket, beef.....anywhere you want barbecue sauce.
