ABOUT 8 CUPS FLOUR

Directions:
Directions:
MIX THE ABOVE INGREDIENTS INTO THE SUGAR/HONEY MIXTURE. BATTER SHOULD BE FAIRLY STIFF.
CHILL WELL, PREFERABLY OVERNIGHT. SCOOP INTO WALNUT-SIZED BALLS AND PUT ON GREASED COOKIE SHEET. BAKE AT 375 DEGREES UNTIL JUST SET, ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WHEN THE COOKIES ARE COOL PLACE SOME IN A LARGE BOWL WITH A LID. DRIZZLE POWDERED SUGAR ICING OVER THEM AND SHAKE SO THEY ARE GLAZED ALL AROUND. PUT ON WAXED PAPER UNTIL GLAZE IS DRY.
(WHEN I MAKE THESE FOR CHRISTMAS I MIX IN CHOPPED CANDIED FRUIT AND CHOPPED WALNUTS. )
THESE ARE A TRADITIONAL GERMAN COOKIE. THEY USED TO MAKE THEM AND KEEP THEM IN 8 GALLON CREAM CANS IN THE COOL BASEMENTS. THEY WOULD KEEP ALL WINTER--OR UNTIL THEY WERE GONE!
THEY ARE A FAVORITE OF MINE.
