1 C sugar
2 T cocoa
1/2 C evaporated milk
1 stick butter or margarine
1 t vanilla

Cook over low heat until soft ball stage. Beat till creamy and spread over sheet cake.

This frosting really makes me think of Mama as she used it a lot over the years. It "sugars" up like fundge pretty quickly so I never had much luck with it on a layer cake...but it's the best tasting I ever ate. Gladys Winn was a neighbor when we moved to Del Rio for awhile in the early 50's...a really good cook who also taught us to make enchiladas, a signature dish for our family for many years! I still make them when I expect a crowd. (see under casserole section)
