2 lbs. cubed beef stew meat
1 can of little tiny peas
1 cup sliced carrots
2 chopped onions
1 t. salt
dash of pepper
1 can condensed Campbell's Tomato Soup thinned with 1/4 can water
3 medium potatoes, cubed
bay leaf

Mix all these things up in a big casserole with a tight lid, cover, and bake at 275 degrees for 5 hours. Serve.

This is from "I Hate to Cook Book" by Peg Bracken, published in 1960. She says it's a good dinner for when you want to go back to bed with a murder mystery and a box of bonbons, or possibly a good case of the flu. I and have made it many times and it is always good.
