6 chiles costenos
8 tomatoes verdes, about 1/2 lb, husks removed
1 clove garlic
1/2 C chopped onion
1/3 C chopped cilantro
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Toast the chiles on a comal or iron skillet. They should turn dark but not be allowed to burn.
In a saucepan, cook the tomatoes verdes in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Drain.
In a blender, puree the chiles with the tomatoes verdes and garlic. Do not strain. Transfer to a sauce dish, add the onion, cilantro and salt and stir Correct the seasonings.
