8-10 cups granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp lemon juice

TOPPING:

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 lb cold unsalted butter, diced

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º.

Coat a 10 x 15 x 2 1/2 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, mix together the apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Sprinkle with lemon juice and toss.

Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish.

TOPPING:

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the flour, sugar, brown sugar, salt, oatmeal and the cold diced butter. Mix on low until the butter is pea-sized and the mixture crumbly.

Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples.

Bake for about 1 hour or until a cake tester inserted in the middle passes easily through the apples.

You can substitute blueberries or peaches for the apples.
If you halve the recipe, the topping can be stored in an airtight container for 2 weeks.
