Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pkg Yeast, 1 Tbsp Sugar, ˝ cup warm water
1 Tbsp Shortening, 1 cup warm water, 2 tsp Salt
4 to 4 ˝ Cups Sifted Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle yeast over combined ˝ cup warm water (110 degrees) & sugar in glass measuring cup. Let stand for 2-3 minutes.
In bottom of large mixing bowl, dissolve salt & shortening (or butter) in remaining 1 c. of warm water. Stir to dissolve and then pour in the yeast mixture & mix well.
Add 4 c. of sifted flour all at once. Mix well until dough is formed. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until soft and not sticky, using as much of the extra ˝ cup as needed.
Place in greased bowl, cover with clean towel & let rise in warm place for about 1 hour.
Punch down. Return dough to floured board and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Cut into 20 equal pieces and gently shape into rolls and put into greased 9 x 13 pan. Cover and let rise again, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30-35 minutes until lightly browned.
Brush top(s) lightly with butter, remove from pan and place on board to cool. (Or eat hot right out of the pan!!!)
For soft crust, remove from pan and cover with clean cloth—rolls upside down. This way they won’t get soggy.
