Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour
Handfull salt (she never really measured anything!)
¼ tsp baking powder
¾ cup milk
1 egg
2 toast, cut into pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Add egg and milk. Beat well. If mixture is too thin, add a little flour at a time until thick dough. Add pieces of toast and mix well.
Divide mixture (with floured hands) into three balls, roll in flour and set on floured plate until ready to boil.
Fill a large 4 qt pot with water (about ¾ full). Bring to a boil. Add the dumplings to the boiling water. They should rise to the top, if not use a slotted spoon to gently release from bottom. Cover pot and continue to boil, releasing steam when needed. Cook about 10 minutes, gently turn each dumpling, and cook an additional 10 – 15 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon to plate or carving board. Slice dumplings and serve.
