2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 unsalted butter cut into pieces

8-10 apples or pears peeled and cut into thin wedges
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup of sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2. To make the topping: in a medium bowl combine the flour, oats, cinnamon, and cloves. Using your hands or a pastry blender, work the butter into the flour mixture until the pieces are about the size of peas.
3. To make the fruit mixture: in a large bowl, combine the cut-up fruits, cranberries, and sugar. Transfer to the prepared baking dish. Cut the butter into small pieces and sprinkle over the fruit mixture.
4. Crumble the oat topping over the fruit. Bake for 40 min. or until the fruit is soft and the topping is lightly browned.
