1 lb. stewing steak
1/2 lb lambs neck or breast
1 lb. carrots
3 lb. potato
1 large onion
5 celery sticks
2 beef stock cubes
1 tbsp. tomato puree
salt and pepper to taste

Put your favorite Beatles album on the stereo.
Place approximately 2 pints of water into a large pan and heat. Cut the meat into 1 inch squares, place in the pan of water and bring to a boil. Skim off scum that rises to the top. While the meat is cooking, peel and chop the vegetables into evenly sized chunks. After 30 minutes add the onions, carrots and celery. Crumble two stock cubes into the pan. Add tomato puree. After 20 minutes add the potatoes and bring back to the boil. Simmer for at least one hour. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve with beetroot or red cabbage, bread and butter.
