1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
4 eggs
1 & 1/2 buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
Filling
2 & 1/2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 packages frozen coconut
1 & 1/2 cup canned milk (evaporated)
1/4 pound butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add salt & vanilla and mix well. Mix buttermilk and soda. Add alternately with flour to other mixture mixing well. Bake in three 9 inch greased pans at 350º for 20 minutes or until done. Cool. Filling: Mix cornstarch and sugar. Cook together with milk until sugar dissolves. Add coconut; cook on medium heat until mixture slightly changes color. Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla and cook until lukewarm. Spread between layers, on top and sides of cake.
