5 c plain flour,
1 1/4 c milk,
1/3 mounded c sugar,
1/2 c butter,
1 egg,
1/2 tsp salt,
1 yeast packet about a T
1 0.5 grams about a bit more the 1 tsp
1 egg beaten with a little water to brush the tops

Directions:

1. Melt butter and our milk in the pan. Let cool to 100F ish
1B Add saffron, salt, egg and sugar.
2. Mix in half of flour with all of yeast
3. Mix and kneed in more flour until a nice soft dough. Saffron bread tends to dry out quicker so don't use too much.
4. Rise 30 min.
5. Cut in pieces, and roll out lengths, about finger thick.
6. Turn and swirl them any shape you like. "S" shape traditional stick a raisin in them.
7. Let raise again 45-60 min.
8. Brush with beaten egg - carefully.
9. bake 445 F about 6 minutes Be careful but quickly on bottoms.
