1 cup sugar
1 cup butter/margarine
2 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
2 T honey
1 tsp baking soda (rounded)
1 cup sour milk...(1 T vinegar in 1 cup milk)

Crumb Topping for 2 cakes
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
Mix with your fingers

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar,butter,flour and cinnamon. Mix with hands until fine. Add to this mixture egg, honey, baking soda and sour milk. Hand stir or mix at low speed. Pour into a greased and floured shallow 9x13 cake pan and bake at 350º for about 30 min. After about 20 min sprinkle on crumb topping. (Option is to sprinkle on more cinnamon and sugar.) Bake for remaining 10 minutes.

This family favorite came from my dad's mother. Both his parents were of German heritage and this recipe is a typical European treat. Bapa was born in 1920 and was the youngest of 4 children. So this recipe predates electric mixers...Auntie
