1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. grown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. chocolate chips
grate rind of 1 orange (chop 3 of 4 quarters of orange rind in food processor)
2 c. flour
1/4 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 scant c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening; add sugar and blend well; add eggs one at a time; (beat after each addition) add vanilla; chocolate chips, orange and rind; add nuts. Sift flour, soda and salt 3 times. Add alternately with milk. Pour into 9x13 pan and bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes.
