2 pounds pears
3 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 lemon sliced or 1 Tbsp juice

Directions:
Directions:
Pears should be hard, ripe for preserving. Pare, core & cut fruit as desired. Add 1/2 of sugar to the water. Boil 2 minutes. Add pears and boil for 15 minutes. Add remaining sugar and lemon. Cook until fruit is tender and clear. Let stand several hours. Pack into hot jars. Seal with paraffin wax.
