2 T. olive oil
1 c. diced prosciutto (about 1/4 pound)
2 c. chopped onions
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. grated carrots
1 c. green beans
2 c. canned, peeled tomatoes
9 c. chicken broth
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1 c. cooked lima or cannellini beans, mashed
1/2 c. small pasta, such as orzo
rosemary sprig
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Heat olive oil in a large soup pot over medium-high heat. Add prosciutto and onions; cook, stirring, until onions wilt. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add celery, carrots and green beans, and cook, stirring, until partially cooked, about 3 minutes.
Add tomatoes, broth and oregano. Cover and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to medium or low and keep soup simmering until vegetables are cooked through, about 20 minutes.
Stir in mashed beans. Add pasta and rosemary sprig. Cook about 15 minutes longer, until pasta is just tender.
Add parmesan cheese, salt and, if needed, pepper. Remove rosemary sprig and serve.
