1 1/2 tsp. black mustard seeds
1 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
1 fresh, hot green chili, finely chopped
1/4 tsp. ground turmeric
1/3 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
3 Tbsp. mustard oil
1 lb. medium-sized shrimp, peeled, de-veined, washed and drained

Grind the mustard seeds coarsely. Put into a medium-sized stainless steel, ceramic or ovenproof glass bowl. Add 1 Tbsp. water and mix. Add the onion, green chili, turmeric, salt, cayenne, and mustard oil. Mix again. Now add the shrimp and mix. Cover with foil and set aside for 15 minutes. Prepare your steamer - easiest to put the bowl into a large saucepan of boiling water. Cook for about 10 minutes (stirring after 6 minutes - replace the foil after stirring) until the shrimp just turns opaque all the way through.
