2 cups warm water - not hot
2 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
6 1/2 cups sifted flour- maybe a little more if needed
1 egg
4 tbsp shortening

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt and half of flour. Beat thoroughly by hand for 2 min or 1 min if using medium speed on mixer. Add egg and shortening. Beat in rest of flour gradually until smooth. Cover with damp cloth. Put in refrigerator. Punch down occasionally as dough will rise in refrigerator. The dough will keep several days in refrigerator. It may be used as needed or after dough has chilled thoroughly. Form chilled dough into desired rolls. Brush top with melted butter. Let rise until double in size - about an hour. if it is cold outside it will take longer. Bake at 400º
for 8-10 min or until brown.
