3/4 C of sugar
1 C dark syrup

When almost at hard boil stage which is 265 using candy thermometer.
Then add the following:

One Tab. of vinegar
Pinch of baking soda
One teaspoon of vanilla
One Tab of butter

Cook again to hard boil stage - 265 using a candy thermometer.

Pour out on a butter platter.
Pull immediately with buttered hands until a light cream color.

It's hot so be careful!

Crack it up into bite size pieces and enjoy!

This is mom's recipe that I made with all of my kids on A avenue in Marion Iowa.

We had a good time making it, but I started using rubber gloves because the taffy was so hot. The kids didn't like that because they said they could taste the rubber in the taffy!
