2 tbsp butter
1/2 c brown sugar
6 slices canned pineapple, drained
maraschino cherries & walnut halves or pieces
yellow cake mix

Directions:

If using a skillet, melt butter in skillet, otherwise, melt butter in the microwave, and pour into cake pan. Sprinkle sugar evenly over butter. Gently arrange pineapple slices on top of sugar and file in spaces inside and around pineapple with halved cherries and walnuts. Pour ln prepared cake mix without disturbing the butter/sugar/fruit/nut arrangement and bake according to cake mix directions.

Mom made this cake in her big cast iron skillet, but you can use a regular 9 inch round or 8 x 8 cake pan. If using a skillet, be sure it is suitable for use in the oven.
