1/2 c. soft sortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. chopped nuts

Frosting
1/2 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. cream
1tsp. vanilla

Directions:
mix shortening, eggs, sugar. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and stir in. Add nuts and chill for 1 hr. Heat oven to 400º grease cookie sheet bake. Frost when cooled.

Frosting:
melt 1/4 c. butter and keep on low heat until brown. Blend in 2 c. powdered sugar, 2 Tbsp cream, 1 tsp. vanilla. let cool and frost cookies.
