5 cups Bread Crumbs
1/2 lb Butter or Oleo
1/2 t salt
5 large eggs or 6 sm eggs
3 T Cream

Directions:
Add Salt to bread crumbs. Melt butter and pour over bread crumbs. Blend well with a fork. Add eggs, unbeaten and cream, Mix well and squeeze into small, hard balls, or until not crumbly. Makes about 46 small balls. Then cool an 8 oz pkg of fine egg noodles in 4 qts of water. DO NOT add any salt. When noodles are done, add the butter balls, cover and cook 15 minutes. A meal in itself. Serves 8-10 people. Use 4 cans chicken broth and 4 cans water.

Moms Notes: Take 1 large loaf of bread and let it dry out hard and make into very fine bread crumbs. It should measure out to 5 cups. Extra Hints: Lay out your bread on your oven racks and leave the oven door open. Your bread will dry out good in 16 hours. Then to make your bread crumbs fine, make it go thru your sifter or strainer. The less amount of cream used, the lighter the butter balls will be

This is mom's famous Butter Balls and Noodles Soup. She got this recipe from my Dad's Mother who is full blooded German. Mom made this a lot.
