Dough:
5 pounds self-rising flour (Winn Dixie Brand)
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3 grated orange rinds
1 grated lemon rind
2 grated apples with peel
5 cups pecans
2 (15 oz.) boxes of raisins soaked in whiskey
1 cup of orange juice (from above oranges)
2 large cooking spoons whiskey
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 quarts whole milk

GLAZE:
3 (2 pound) bags confectionary sugar
3 cans Pet cream
3 small bottles almond extract

Directions:

Mix first four ingredients. Next, add five fruits alternately with the four liquids into the dry ingredients. Dough will be stiff and tacky. Drop by teaspoon full into hot oil (350º ). Fry until golden brown. Drain on rack on paper towels. Put warm into glaze. After dried place in air tight container. Can be frozen.

These are served at weddings and Christmas. They are good for 2 days, but I freeze most of what I make immediately and take out what I need as I want them.
