6 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups shortening (crisco)
4 extra large eggs + 1 yolk
reserve egg white to brush bars
1 3/4 tablespoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift flour, measure and resift with sugar and baking powder. Cut in shortening with fingers until mixture resembles corn meal.

2. Make a well add eggs and almond extract and mix

3. Knead dough about 5 minutes. Roll into a 10-11 inch log, then cut into 10-11 slices and cover as not to dry.

4. roll dough on parchment paper 15x3 inch strips, spread filling down the center of strips then with help of parchment paper fold sides of dough over the filling.

5. Press slightly then turn and cut into 1 -1 1/2 inch bars. Place on parchment paper and bake at 350 degrees for 12- 14 minutes or until lightly brown on bottom.

6. Convection oven was set a 300 degrees and baked bars 11-12 minutes
