Grandma Betow's Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

2 pkgs yeast (regular, not quick-rise)
2 cups warm water
6 TBSP sugar
1 tsp salt
1 large egg
5 TBSP melted shortening
6 ½ to 7 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add sugar, salt and ½ cup flour. Beat 2 minutes with mixer. Add eggs, shortening and rest of flour. Mix well.
Shape into a ball. Grease the top of the dough. Cover with a dish cloth and let rise until double in size.

Punch down dough and roll out into rectangles.

Spread with butter, cinnamon and sugar. Then roll up and cut into 1 inch cinnamon rolls.

Let rise in greased pans. Bake at 375° F for 20-25 minutes.
