½ cup shortening
2/3 cup cocoa
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
2 cups buttermilk
1 ½ tsp baking soda
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and cocoa. Beat eggs and add to cocoa mixture. Add flour, sugar and salt to cocoa mixture. Incorporate buttermilk, baking soda, boiling water and vanilla with cocoa mixture. Mix well.

Preheat oven to 325° F.

Pour mixture into greased/floured pan and bake for 40 minutes.

Top with your favorite frosting.
