1 c granulated sugar
1/3 c all-purpose flour
1/4 t salt
2 c milk
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 T butter
1 t vanilla
2-1 oz squares unsweetened chocolate
1 baked pastry shell

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, combine sugar, flour and salt. Gradually stir in milk and add chocolate. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens. Stir constantly. Cook 2 minutes longer then remove from heat. Stir small amount hot mixture into yolks, return to hot mixture and cook 2 minutes longer. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir and cool to room temperature. (To prevent a crust from forming, put clear plastic wrap or waxed paper directly on top, touching surface of the hot pudding clear to sides of pan.) Pour into baked pastry shell.

This is a recipe that my mom gave to me. It is one she used often for holiday baking. One tip she gave me was if I didnt have the unsweetened chocolate then use 6 T of cocoa and 2 T butter, add with milk.
