4 C navy beans
1/2 lb salt pork, sliced (We use 1/2 lb of bacon diced)
3 tsp salt
1/2 C brown sugar
1 tsp powdered mustard
4 T molasses
1 large onion chopped ( we use 1 T onion flakes)
4 T catsup

1. Cook beans in a large pot of water and boil for 20 minutes, drain and rinse and refill the pot with water and soak overnight. drain them in the morning.
2. Into your crock pot add 2 C of beans.
3. Add half of the remaining ingredients.
4. Add the other 2 C of beans.
5. Add the rest of the remaining ingredients.
6. Add water to cover the beans.
7. Cook all day on high, then all night on low, adding water when needed.

You will never taste a better homemade beans than these! I have made these many times. I have used fresh onion and the onion flakes, but i prefer the flakes. I have also changed the cooking time when i make them. Maybe because the newer crock pots cook faster than the older ones. I just found that if you start your beans in the early morning, they will be ready to eat that night. The aroma that fills the house while the beans are cooking is mouth watering! I remember as a kid living at home I would fall asleep to the smell of the beans.
