1 c shortening or margarine
½ t baking powder
1 c white sugar
1 t vanilla
1 c brown sugar
2 c oatmeal
2 eggs
1- 6 oz pkg chocolate chips
2 c flour
½ c nuts or pecans
1 t soda
¾ c raisins
½ t salt

Directions:
Directions:
**Cream the shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla; beat well. Add flour then oatmeal; mix together well. Add the last 3 ingredients. Nuts and raisins may be omitted if preferred. Drop cookies on greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 11 minutes depending on how brown and crisp you like them. Tip: mix dough and keep in refrigerator covered to bake the next day.
