1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c. butter, soften
2 eggs
3 tbsp. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, beat 1 1/2 c. sugar, shortening and butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl, stir into sugar mixture. Chill at least 30 min. Preheat oven 350ºF. On powdered sugar covered surface, roll out half of the dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Using cookie cutters, cut out various shapes. Place 1-inch apart on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 7 to 8 min. or until lightly browned. Gather scraps and repeat rolling and cutting. Cool on rack.

Using powder sugar instead of flour to cover the surface when rolling out the dough helps keep cookies from turning out tough and dry.
