6 eggs, separated
¼ t. salt
½ lb. butter, softened to room temp
1½ # powdered sugar
½ t. vanilla extract
½ t. ground nutmeg
½ t. ground cloves
½ t. ground allspice

Beat egg whites and salt until they foam up and form stiff peaks
Beat the egg yolks to soft peaks in a separate bowl. Beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolks and vanilla to the butter mixture. Stir in the nutmeg, cloves, allspice and egg whites. Batter can be frozen or kept in the refrigerator for several weeks.

To make Tom and Jerry drink put 1 heaping tablespoon of batter in a cup along with a 1 to 1 ½ oz. of either brandy or rum. Add very hot water, stir until batter is all dissolved.

Made a batch this past Christmas, everyone enjoyed it. May sprinkle a touch of nutmeg top of the cup for garnish.
