2 t whole cloves
1 T salt
1 bay leaf
1 onion
2 c vinegar
½ t pepper
4 pork hocks

Directions:
Directions:
Boil hocks until meat will slip off the bone, drain. Save the broth, which the hocks were boiled in. Place mat in bowl. Combine brine ingredients and boil 30 minutes. Add 2 cups broth in which hocks were boiled. Strain. Pour over hocks. Let stand 3 days in the refrigerator before using.
