Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pgk chicken thighs & 1pkg chicken legs (or fav chicken parts)
1 c flour
1 egg
¼ c milk
Garlic powder
Salt & pepper
¼ c Crisco

Directions:
Directions:
1. Rinse chicken pieces,
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together egg and milk.
3. On wax paper or plate, pour flour.
4. Dip each piece of chicken in egg/milk mixture then thoroughly coat with flour.
5. Place Crisco in an electric skillet and heat to 375. When shortening is melted, place chicken pieces in the skillet. (TIP: Do not crowd the chicken – it will affect the browning and your chicken may end up soggy.)
6. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt and pepper over chicken.
7. Brown one side; turn over and brown the other side.
8. After browning two sides, turn pieces to brown edges. Reduce heat to 325. Cover.
9. Brown the third side for approximately 10 minutes; turn to the fourth side and brown.
10. Remove lid for the last 5 minutes or so of frying.
11. Remove chicken to a paper towel-lined platter and let rest for about 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, remove the yummy “crunchies” from the skillet and let drain on paper towel. (TIP: you can eat just about all the crunchies while waiting for the chicken to “rest” and not have to share!)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
One of my mother's recipes gathered long distance over the phone (back before unlimited long distance rates on land lines). She had never "measured" her ingredients and gave me guesstimates. Once you've made it a few times, you can gauge the measurements.
