3 c. unbleached flour (*12 c.)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder (*2 T.)
2 T. + 2 tsp. sugar (*2/3 c.)
1/2 tsp. salt (*2 tsp.)
1/2 tsp. baking soda (*2 tsp.)
1 T. dry yeast (*4 T.)
1/4 c. Cold butter (*1 lb.)
1/4 c. Cold Crisco
1 c. buttermilk (*1 qt.) (or equivalent buttermilk powder and water)

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together dry ingredients (include dry buttermilk powder if using it), cut in cold butter or margarine with pastry blender. Add buttermilk (or water if using buttermilk powder), mix and fold until it holds together well. Roll on floured surface to 1 in. thick, cut in desired shapes or with biscuit cutter. Place on cookie sheet 2 in. apart. Bake at 450º for 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Makes 12-15 biscuits. (*Makes a large batch~50 biscuit)
