1 Pkg active dry yeast
1/4 c warm water
1/2 c milk, scalded
1/4 c sugar
1/4 c shortening
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 - 2 3/4 c sifted all purpose flour
1 beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c chopped walnuts or pecans
1/2 c raisins

Directions:
Soften yeast in warm water. Combine milk, sugar, shortening, salt. cool. Add 1 c flour beat well. Beat in yeast, egg & vanilla. Mix in enough flour to make soft dough. Knead on floured surface. Place in greased bowl cover and let rise about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

roll to rectangle about 1/4" thick. Brush with melted butter spread evenly with raisins. Roll like jelly roll. Seal edge. Shape in a ring like a figure 8. Let rise 35 - 45 min until doubled. Bake at 375 degrees about 20-25 mins.
