1 cup butter
1 2/3 cups sugar
2 cups flour
5 eggs

Directions:
Sift and measure flour, but don't pack. Grate one third whole nutmeg into flour or flavor with lemon. Cream butter and add sugar. Add a little flour and a little egg at a time. Beat well or mix with hands until last of flour has been beaten in. Try cooking at 275º for 15 minutes; then raise temperature to about 325º for about 45 minutes. Turn off oven and let cake set inside for 10 minutes.
