1/4 lb. Butter or Margarine (1/2 cup or 1 stick)
1/2 c. Brown Sugar
1/2 c. Sugar
1 Egg
3/4 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/4 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
1 c. Chocolate Chips


Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Lightly spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. Cream the butter, then gradually add the sugars, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Mix the flour and baking soda together and add to above mixture, blending well. Stir in the nuts and chips. Drop by teaspoonfulls onto cookie sheets, placing them about 1" apart. Bake 8-10 minutes or till brown.

For bars:
Mix as above, except for you will have 1 batch for a 9"x9" square pan, and you can make two batches for an 11"x13" pan. Bake about 12-15 minutes, cool and cut into bars.
