1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
11/2 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground mace
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 ground cloves
3 cups oatmeal uncooked
1 cup walnuts or pecans chopped
1 cup yellow raisin finely chopped

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter and sugars with electric mixer until light. Add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. with mixer running, gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture to combined. Fold in oatmeal, nuts and raisins by hand. Drop by tablespoons, 2 inches apart, onto a lightly greased cookie sheet flattening each mount slightly. Bake 8 to 10 min for a soft cookies 12 for a crunchy one.

Mary had these around her kitchen in Seattle for snacking. I stuffed my purse with them for the plane ride home. They never made it to the airport.
