Grandma's Fudge Recipe

1 2/3 c. sugar
2 T. butter
1/2 tsp. sat
1 small can Carnation Evaporated mild (2/3 c.)
1 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 1/2 c. diced marshmallows
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, butter, salt, and canned milk in saucepan over medium heat. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add chocolate, marshmallows and nuts (if desired) to sugar mixture.
Sir in vanilla and beat vigorously 1 minute or until marshmallows and chocolate melt.
Pour fudge into a buttered 8" square pan. Top with additional nuts if desired. Cool until firm and cut into squares.

Ruth loved fudge as much, if not more, than the kids did. A pan of fudge always arrived at family gatherings. And often, sleepovers at Grandma's (Ruth's) often included the making of fudge.
