Lebanese Anise Bars Recipe

Mix together –
4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 full Tbsp ground anise
1 tsp turmeric
2 tsp baking powder

Add 1 ½ cups vegetable. oil (warmed about ½ - ¾ min in microwave) It should be warm, not hot.
Mix all with spoon and then by hand if it’s easier.

Add 1 ¾ - 2 cups cold milk
I cup chopped walnuts
batter will be thicker than cake batter

Spread in greased & floured pan, 13x18 inch (larger than a jelly roll pan)
Sprinkle with 1 tsp sugar
Sprinkle with sesame seeds (or pine nuts)
Bake around 45 min at 350 º
Cool and cut in 1 inch diamond shape bars (or squares)
