1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Stick Unsalted Butter
3 Cups Granulated Sugar
5 Eggs
3 Cups Plain Flour
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Cup Milk
1 Tsp Vanilla

Directions:

Do Not Pre-Heat Oven.
Cream butter & shortening with sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, add baking powder and salt and sift again. Add milk and flour mixture alternately to butter-sugar mixture. Add vanilla.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Put in COLD oven. Bake at 350º for 1 hour & 15 Minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes in pan, then remove and let cool on rack.
